“Ryan Perry did not know that something in him was broken.” That’s the
first sentence of “Your Heart Belongs to Me“, the latest novel by Dean
Koontz. It’s 337 pages long, but the first ten pages already have many
of the elements you may be used to if you are a frequent reader of
Koontz’s novels. There’s a California locale, a man with a problem,
and a spunky lady (the golden retriever doesn’t show up until page 119
and then only in pictorial form). This story about a heart transplant
has a slight supernatural cast and keeps you guessing as to what’s
really going on. I enjoyed this book and found myself thinking about
it after I had finished, going back to the meaning of that first
sentence.
